Organizational & Structural Dimension

Organization and Structural Dimension

More on the Organizational/Structural Dimension of Diversity

Organizational/Structural diversity relates to the understanding that benefits for some groups are embedded in the organizational and structural aspects of colleges and universities.  This dimension of campus climate can be found in the design of the curriculum, admissions policies and practices, hiring practices, budgeting, tenure decisions and in other day-to-day "business" decisions made within the institution (Milem et.al. 2005).

Organizational/Structural diversity can span the other four dimensions, as they may individually affect, inform and impact the organizationa/structural dimension individually and in concert with one another.  Organizational/Structural diversity can also, in turn, impact the other four dimensions as well.  This can be seen in the structure and design of the visual representation of the model.
