Compositional Diversity
Compositional diversity refers to the numerical and proportional representation of different groups of people within the campus environment. As mentioned in the image above, this includes diversity within both faculty/staff and student populations. Compositional diversity can play a key symbolic role in indicating diversity as a priority for the institution and its leaders, but must not be the only dimension of diversity that an institution seeks to develop. It is important to understand that diversity is no an "end" in itself, but is a process that can enhance many educational outcomes within the institution.
